Student Engagement and Wellbeing
McGuire College is a safe, supportive community where all students are included and treated fairly. It is our purpose that students will leave McGuire College as confident, competent individuals able to face challenges and take responsible, active roles in a diverse world.
We recognise that sometimes students require additional support in their schooling and everyday lives. McGuire College has a proactive wellbeing team that includes a wellbeing leader, school nurse and social worker. In addition to the wellbeing team McGuire College has a range of staff who specialise in supporting students with a variety of needs. This includes the Programs for Students with Disabilities Coordinator (PSD), Koori Education Officer, Multicultural Educator Officers, Educational Support Officers, Counsellor, Sexual Health Nurse and SSS support.
We also run a variety of wellbeing programs here at McGuire College. Such programs include; Year 7 Start Up program and transition camp, Girls & Boys Talk, STRENGTH, Next-Step, Social Warriors, PATs, Social Science Program, Beacon Foundation, Brainstorm Production, Year 9 and 10 Health and Wellbeing Days, organised lunchtime activities, after school homework support, guest speakers, Horses for Hope and Jet’s Gymnastics.
